Halil palying cricket in episode 4

Some of you must be wondering “why does Halil play cricket instead of playing football (soccer) ?” . In fact, why do Pakistani not play football like other so many countries ?

Well, apart from Pakistan’s Former-British-colony-background, I think the reason why cricket is so popular has a lot to do with the 1992-world-cup-win against England. This was the year, Imran khan lead the country to it’s first and last world-cup win. Before that periode, the most popular game wasn’t cricket but hockey.

It is interesting to note that Imran Khan is now playing in the game of politics. If you’re interested in the links between cricket and politics in Pakistan, you may read the review of a very recent book entitled “Wounded Tiger : a history of Cricket in Pakistan” on the blog below.
